Winter Wonderland

Even seasons can get their own atmospheric design if you are so inclined to celebrate the change in seasons each year as they come along with your work.

The Season

The winter weather is upon us in full and the grounds are covered in white. The cold chill has caused us to break out our winter gear: hats, mittens, scarves, heavy jackets and more. Stores have brought out holiday items and candy cane and peppermint flavored drinks are everywhere.

Fall has now made it’s way to winter and snow is everywhere. Warmer clothes are needed as you see Christmas decorations, poinsettias, holly and more decorating the surrounding houses. It’s a time when finding warmth is a priority, hot chocolate is being sold in abundance (at least for me), blanket, good books, and warm drinks are favorable.

Winter is associated with the word wonderland due to the wonder of the snow. The burying of falls baren land in preparation of something new to come. As the snow falls over the land, the trees and houses, you awake to a city/town covered in white. Sparkling wonder as the sun rises to greet a new day.

The fresh white landscape brings about new inspiration; a creation of wonder in children that wasn’t there before as they revel in snow days and create with a new medium. Snow angels, igloos, snowmen and even snow creatures are created through the wonder and packing of snow.

With this new wonderland that has graces our season, many look to the future. They begin preparations for the new year. Encouraged and inspired to do better and become more than the previous year. Let’s see how we can set up our winter wonderland in preparation for our long winter season and the promise of a fresh start.

Set Up Your Winter Wonderland Atmosphere

Now that we’ve discussed the importance of this wintery season, let’s see how you can set up your atmosphere to fit.

Away From Home

This may not be as easy to accomplish unless you plan to stay somewhere and are indoors, but there are some little things you can do to take your atmosphere with you. Many places you travel too will have some festive decorations already, so you may not have to do much or anything at all when going out to have the right atmosphere.

If you want to add a bit more you could dress the part with adding festively decorated clothes, jewelry and more.

You can also get in the right state of mind by purchasing foods and drinks that go along with the season and scents you love. Coffee shops are great for providing chocolate, peppermint, gingerbread, and cinnamon flavored concoctions.

In the Home

Within the space of your home, including your backyard (if you spend time outside during this time) you can do quite a bit more. You can get a bit more creative or go as simple as you want with your set up. Some items you can add are stuffed snowmen, snowflakes, string lights, wreaths, and more.

Using incense, candles or oils can bring in the wonder scents of pies, burning wood, pine, cinnamon and more depending on your preference of scent and what will assist in creating your winter wonderland atmosphere.

Another way to provide a winter wonderland atmosphere and get the right scent along with taste is to make recipes that will create the aroma you are looking for. Not to mention, eating or drinking the delicious recipes you’ve just made. Skinny Mixes has a great selection of syrups you can add to any recipe or drink for the flavor you’re looking for. *Not an affiliate link, just love the flavors they provide!

Plan Your Space

This is your space (unless you are going away from home, of course) so you can make it as winter friendly as you want. Go crazy or keep it simple, your preferences count.

If you want to keep it simple, but add a bit of winter flare, you can add a few snowflakes or lights to the room. This will keep things simple, but add just a little bit of a change to inspire you.

If you want to do a bit more, have at it. Decide what items you want and where. Make the space comfortable and encouraging, while keeping your senses in mind as you plan. Add things to keep you warm if you are like me and get cold easily.

Remember you basics as well, you don’t want to forget anything as you move from place to place or while you are setting up. Keep hydrated and take care of yourself during this season, take breaks when you need them and don’t forget snacks!

Tip: Purchase some fake snowballs for some stress relief. You can squeeze them or throw them. Since they are soft they will minimize or prevent and damage from those stressful times.

Final thoughts

Remember you don’t need to go crazy and create an elaborate space to get the atmosphere you wish to have. A little can do a lot to create the right atmosphere for your goals during this time.

Do you change things up for the seasons to create a change in atmosphere or do you plow right through to the end of the year without stopping? Let us know and share pics of your winter atmospheres, we would love to see them!!
