Holiday Atmosphere to Get You in the Spirit

Snow is falling, and the holidays are near. Those that weren’t into the season are not in full swing getting things ready for the season. Celebrating the holiday through decorating can create a different perspective and add cheer to your space.

The Holiday

As the winds begin to blow and the season turns white, we see the snow falling, and homeowners begin to be ready for even colder days. (At least here in the north. Stores and restaurants introduce new items and flavors of the holiday on its way.

This season comes with many colors and themes to choose from. From snowmen, reindeer, penguins, and gnomes to trees, snowflakes, lights, and more. There are SO many ideas on Pinterest these days for holiday decorating that it’s hard to choose just one theme. \

Even if you don’t go all out or even decorate for Christmas, there are still things you can do for the season to give your office space some character and seasonal charm.

Why the Holidays?

Well, why not? Christmas brings about the fun of gift-giving and a seasonal atmosphere that some love to experience. Those that celebrate bring out candles, trees, ornaments, lights, scents and more.

The holidays may originally be absent in color, but they can provide the inspiration for the change in our creative setting as well as the scenery. The difference in perspective as you relate to the holidays or season can be completely different from the person next to you.

The holidays bring out hospitality, a cheer you may have been missing, and wonder as you spend time with your children and family. Sprinkle a little cheer or go all out and express your holiday spirit.

Set Up Your Holiday Atmosphere

Now that we’ve discussed some of this holiday, let’s move on to how you can accomplish such a festive perspective.

Away From Home

As with most places, some also decorate for this holiday by hanging decorations in windows and around lamp poles. This will help as you will already have some decorative items around you to get you into the holiday. There are some little things you can do to take your atmosphere with you and make it more personal to you. Not only could you dress the part by adding festively decorated clothes and accessories, use Holiday decorated notebooks and journals, or take small things to add to your areas to create a more Holiday-type feel, such as small snowmen, snowflakes, and even small battery-powered strings of lights. A small item can liven up the table or area in which you are occupying.

You can also get in the right state of mind by purchasing foods and drinks that go along with the holiday and scents you love. Coffee shops are great for providing peppermint, gingerbread, and cinnamon-flavored concoctions for you to enjoy.

In the Home

Within the space of your home, including your backyard (if you spend time outside during this time) you can do quite a bit more. You can get a bit more creative or go as simple as you want with your setup. Some items you can add are larger snowmen, wreaths, decorative trees, nutcrackers, and more.

Using incense, candles or oils can bring in the wonderful scent of peppermint, pine, gingerbread, cinnamon, and more depending on your preference of scent and what will assist in creating your Holiday atmosphere. You could even get even more ambitious and create a winter-wonderland in your space if you so wish with holiday songs in the background.

Another way to provide a Holiday atmosphere and get the right scent along with the taste is to make recipes that will create the aroma you are looking for. Not to mention, eating or drinking the delicious recipes you’ve just made.

Plan Your Space

This is your space (unless you are going away from home, of course) so you can make it as harvest friendly as you want. Go crazy or keep it simple, your preferences counts.

If you want to keep it simple, but add a bit of Halloween flare, you can add a few candles and pumpkins to the room. This will keep things simple, but add just a little bit of a change to inspire you.

If you want to do a bit more, have at it. Decide what items you want and where. Make the space comfortable and encouraging, while keeping your senses in mind as you plan. Add things to keep you warm if you are like me and get cold easily.

Remember your basics as well, you don’t want to forget anything as you move from place to place or while you are setting up. Keep hydrated and take care of yourself during this season, take breaks when you need them and don’t forget snacks!
