Create Your Vision Board

What is a Vision Board?

What is a vision board, you ask? Well, let me tell you. A vision board is a collection of inspiring, motivating, and encouraging images and items that provide a visual representation of your dreams and goals.

It is essentially a visual guide to keep you in the direction of your goals and dreams for life, business, health, or any other area of your life.

What is a Vision Board Used For?

A vision board is used as visual encouragement, to keep your goals and dreams in the forefront of your mind at all times. They also provide motivation and inspiration, showing you what is possible if you stick to your guns.

One or More

Your vision board can be one large board with a collage of everything or one main focus in your life or you can decide to have multiple smaller ones that focus on each aspect of your life. The choice is up to you and how you want to organize your board(s).

Think About Your Perfect Life

What does the life you are reaching for look like? What goals and achievements do you want to make? How does your life look to you as you reach those goals? Why things do you want to include? Make a list.

Look at your life as a whole or within each category if you are doing separate boards and imagine what you’re life will be like. Nothing is impossible and anything can encourage and inspire you to keep going toward the goals you set before yourself.

Your Why?

Think about why you want to create these boards or board. What is the purpose behind why you are creating these? How are you going to use them? Where are you going to hang them so they are visible? Knowing your why allows you to align your goals and vision with what is important to you and each aspect of your life.

Supplies

This may not seem like something you might consider something to think about before you start your board(s), but if you think about what you want to use on your boards before you start; you can gather the items and have a completed board from the get go.

What are you going to use for the board? What images will you include? Are there any objects you will you add? Are there any quotes you want to put on it? What other items or supplies will you be using to decorate your board(s)? Having the items and supplies ready before, will make the building of the board(s) go smoother.

Set Aside Time

You may not think this is important either, but you will want to set aside time to plan out your board, gather you supplies and create them. Putting things together may seem easy when you think about it, but if you’re like me, you want them to go together in a specific way to appeal to you as a person and to your interests. Make sure you put aside plenty of time to plan and assemble your boards so you are not spending months trying to get them together.

Types of Vision Boards

Now, if you want to create one board and have one main focus, that is completely up to you. You can create sections on your board for each category you like and have everything in one place.

So here is a list of areas you can use to create boards that will help you in your life.

  • Career/Business
  • Finances
  • Home
  • Travel

  • Education

No matter your interests, you can create a board to inspire you in any area of your life. Have one I don’t have listed here, leave them in the comments to inspire others!

When to Change Up Your Vision Board

Really, this is up to you when you want or need to change it up, but I would suggest scheduling in some time throughout the year to review your board(s) to make sure they are still pertinent to your goals.

Try every quarter, the end or beginning of the year, or when something in your life changes that may affect your board. Events in life happen and with them comes change. Don’t be afraid to change with them and alter your boards to include this new change.
