10 Video Games for Families

With the holidays coming and cold weather abound, there are many things you can do with your family. If you want to spend time with family indoors and are looking for family oriented video games, I’ve got just the thing for you.

4 or More Player Video Games

1) Overcooked 1&2

Work together as a team to fend off the “spaghetti monster” or the Unbread in these kitchen cooking, dash for ingredient games. Great for teamwork as you work around the kitchen to gather ingredients, chop, fry, bake, boil, steam and more.

2) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Great for any age and a classic. Race on different themed tracks of your choice. Use items to gain speed or deflect other players, move up to gain first place and win the race! A good natured game for all ages.

3) Jackbox Party Packs

With eight packs available there are plenty of party games to choose from. WIth the ability to play on any device with one main for display it fits any number of players. Great games abound with Fibbage, Quiplash, and You Don’t Know Jack. Great for online or local gameplay.

4) Moving Out

Work together to empty a house of it’s possessions and pack them into a truck Tetris style. Beat the time and collect mini missions like break all the windows, avoid the oil spills, and giving a bird (lawn flamingo) a bath. Watch out for any pet that may still be lingering, they’ll slow you down if you let them free!

5) Mario Party

Another classic to reminisce with the kids and with so many editions you can play old school on the Nintendo 64, GameCube, Nintendo Wii or play the newer versions on the Nintendo Switch. Choose a board and travel around collecting coins to trade for stars. Win mini games, steal, watch out for event spaces with ! On the space, these will leave you regretting your direction or move you back spaces. The play with the most stars after the bonus stars are rewarded wins!

6) Rocket League

Rocket Powered cars playing soccer. Play one on one, two on two, three on three, or four on four with local or online players. Race around the field using cars to push a giant soccer ball into the goal. There really isn’t much more to say, but it’s great fun for multi-player.

2 Player Video Games

7) Super Mario Odyssey

Although this is only 2 players co-op. Nintendo does a great job with creating a world where Mario can travel for hours with his trusty companion Cappy (player 2). Yep you read that right, player two gets to roam the levels as a hat. What could be more fun?

8) Luigis Mansion 3

Another two payer co-op. Navigate Luigi’s Mansion to save your friends. Though you’ll need your counterpart gooigi to reach some places. Yes, player 2 gets to pay as a goo version of Luigi. Traverse the mansion saving your friends and defeating your enemies.

9) Lego

Nearly every lego game provides multi-player co-op options from Harry Potter to LOTR to Marvel and more. Traverse lands, gain collectables, complete missions and defeat enemies as a team.

10) Minecraft

Minecraft is one of the most popular for the younger generations it can be played by all ages. You can play in creative mode and just build things or you can play survival mode where you have to explore and dig for supplies, build weapons and defeat enemies.
